Prep A

In prep the children have been learning about shapes and their different attributes. This has included counting the number of sides and corners, looking at whether sides are straight or curved and recognising that a shape occurs once lines have joined to form a closed space. Some shapes, especially squares and rectangles, are a little bit more difficult to tell apart. The children have had to look at the lengths of the sides to decide which one is which. A square has all sides the same length and a rectangle has two long sides and two short sides. The children have also been noticing shapes in their environment. They have noticed clocks that are circular in shape, books that are often rectangles, triangular slices of pizza and carpet squares. The children had a go at creating pictures using shapes. Have a look at the photographs of some of our pictures. Can you work out what they are?
